2011 Belmont Stakes betting players still have some time before the big race in three weeks, so they should pass the time with some MLB fantasy action. Fantasy baseball is catching up to football in terms of popularity, and if there's no NFL season (or NBA, for that matter), it may be your best bet. If you have a team, these are the three things to watch over the weekend.
Jay Bruce, Cincinnati
Bruce has been on fire this week, batting .452 with four homers and 12 RBIs, and now he heads to Atlanta to face a Braves team he has done well against in the past. When facing the Braves, Bruce is hitting .347 with five dingers and 10 RBIs in 14 games, although he is 0-for-8 in two games at Turner Field. That shouldn't stop him, though.
Matt Kemp, Los Angeles Dodgers
Kemp is also rolling as he heads into a home series against Florida, as he hit .304 with three homers and five RBIs this week. Against the Marlins, Kemp is a career .257 hitter with three homers and 14 RBIs, and he's .312 at Dodger Stadium with seven homers and 19 RBIs.
Boston/Detroit Hitters On Sunday
Get rid of any hitters you have on Sunday when it comes to the Red Sox and Tigers, as Josh Beckett and Justin Verlander will be on the hill, and these guys have been great this year. Beckett leads the American League in ERA, while Verlander is coming off his worst start of the season, and he'll be eager to bounce back. In addition, take a good, long look at going under the posted total in your online sportsbook.
